We're starting this event off right with a pool party and barbeque. Feel free to bring your own contributions to this party: Meat, veggies, drinks, napkins, sweets, etc. We have a half basketball court in our huge backyard as well as fruit trees to pick from. There will be music inside and we have a ping-pong table for a few tournaments. :)

  • Barbeque in the back and vegetarian food on the inside

There's a lot of wall space and space in the backyard. So, I and a few other artist are going to hang our latest pieces and live paint. There will also be a live DJ spinning music.
  • Live art
  • Live DJ spinning music on the dance floor
  • Original artworks by local artists on the walls for sale.
 Bonfire & Intimate Performances
9:00(ish)
When the sun goes down, we'll light up the bonfire and gather around outside (maybe with s'mores).
To honor a GILL SOTU party, we'll set up on microphone on the dance floor and invite the various musicians and poets to share a piece.
And as the night goes on, maybe we'll warm up the jacuzzi.
  •  Bonfire with s'mores
  •  Live intimate acoustic performances
  • More music

It's up to you when you want to come. Stay all day and through the night if you like.

I encourage you to donate whatever you like to this event. Everything you give goes into the food and beverages we'll have. :)

Live Painting III

Here is my third live painting. What is interesting about this instance is that the girl painted here didn't appear until the end of the painting. I had painted the girl very quickly at home (it's not very clean) and then applied a new medium I've discovered that allows you to essentially erase paint. So, I painted the entire piece in one color so the figure couldn't be seen underneath. Then I let it dry and packed it up in my car for the show. At the show, I proceeded to paint the background in several layers. I was even allowed to spray paint a bit. And then half way through, I began to expose the painting underneath. People were pretty amazed at my "performance" and kept questioning me about what I described as a "magic trick". Only one person knew what I had done. :) Anyway, I think I will reclaim this idea. That is of the girl as a guitar. <|3

Open Mic

I kind of rocked this week at the open mic. I "freestyled"  a poem. It wasn't totally off the top of the head though. I've had bits and pieces of the poem in my head for a few days previous but none of it was written or memorized. Good times. I haven't felt this good about performing a piece in a long time. :) <|3
