ENCINITAS SUNSET [photography]

TITLE - ENCINITAS SUNSET
MEDIUM - Photograph
SUGGESTED PRICE - $100 for 16" X 20" Canvas Print

DESCRIPTION -A picture I took with my cellphone on an Encinitas cliff one afternoon. The horizon was incredibly foggy and gave the sunset a haze.

I was snapping pictures from different views when I noticed a plane about to cross the sky. Using a cellphone, I knew I had to wait for the right moment because it would take several seconds before it was ready for another shot. So, I waited patiently for the plane to trail across the horizon, snapped the pic, and this is what came out. :)

Live Painting III

Here is my third live painting. What is interesting about this instance is that the girl painted here didn't appear until the end of the painting. I had painted the girl very quickly at home (it's not very clean) and then applied a new medium I've discovered that allows you to essentially erase paint. So, I painted the entire piece in one color so the figure couldn't be seen underneath. Then I let it dry and packed it up in my car for the show. At the show, I proceeded to paint the background in several layers. I was even allowed to spray paint a bit. And then half way through, I began to expose the painting underneath. People were pretty amazed at my "performance" and kept questioning me about what I described as a "magic trick". Only one person knew what I had done. :) Anyway, I think I will reclaim this idea. That is of the girl as a guitar. <|3

Open Mic

I kind of rocked this week at the open mic. I "freestyled"  a poem. It wasn't totally off the top of the head though. I've had bits and pieces of the poem in my head for a few days previous but none of it was written or memorized. Good times. I haven't felt this good about performing a piece in a long time. :) <|3
